The CrownLab method
No washing-machine shortcuts.
Every cap starts with an inspection. Cleaning is controlled, low-moisture and adjusted to the cap rather than forcing every cap through the same process.
Important: suede, leather, silk, vintage/fragile construction and some high-value designer caps may be excluded from the initial launch while the process is being validated.

Inspect & photograph
Material, colour, shape, stains and pre-existing damage are checked before cleaning.

Dry prep & colour test
Loose dust and lint are removed, then a discreet colour-transfer test is carried out where appropriate.

Hand clean & sweatband care
Targeted cleaning using controlled moisture, soft brushes and clean white cloths.

Reshape & air dry
The cap is supported on form, reshaped where suitable and dried with cool airflow.

Final quality check
Shape, lint, marks and finish are checked before the cap is returned.

FAQ
Before your cap enters the lab.
Do you put caps in a washing machine?
No. CrownLab is being built around controlled hand cleaning, careful moisture management and supported air drying.
Can every stain be removed?
No cleaner can guarantee every stain will disappear. The aim is to improve the cap as safely as possible without creating avoidable colour, glue, shape or fabric damage.
Can you clean designer caps?
Premium caps will be assessed individually. During the first launch phase, very delicate, unusual or high-value pieces may be declined until the method is fully proven.
Do you reshape caps?
Where suitable, yes. Controlled steam and shaping support can be used to improve the crown and brim, but the safe method depends on the cap’s materials and construction.
Where are you based?
CrownLab LDN is launching in London. Full collection, drop-off and postal details will be confirmed as the pilot progresses.
